This page explains what the site receives, why it is used, who helps process it, and what stays only on your device. It also explains the choices and rights available to you.
Renato Valdés-Olmos is the controller for this site and the workbook business. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to contact@renatovaldes.com.
No advertising or behavioural tracking. The site does not currently run advertising pixels, optional analytics or other nonessential browser storage, so no consent banner is shown. The settings and access storage described below provide features you request. If optional analytics is introduced, it will stay off until you choose to allow it.
What the site handles

What stays on your device
The reading settings, workbook access keys and answers entered into interactive workbook tools are stored in your browser using local or session storage. The interactive answers are not sent to this site. You can download them where a tool offers an export, clear them from the workbook, or remove the site’s stored data through your browser.
This storage is used only to provide the feature you requested: remembering reading preferences, keeping paid access open, and preserving work in progress. Blocking or clearing it may reset those features.
Processors and transfers
The service providers used for this site are Vercel for hosting, Stripe for checkout and payment, Resend for transactional and subscribed email, and FormSubmit to relay portfolio access requests. They process data under their own security and data-protection terms.
Some processing may take place outside the European Economic Area. Where required, those providers use a recognised transfer mechanism such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Payment details are handled by Stripe and are not stored on this site.
How long information is kept
- Purchase, invoice and tax records are kept for the period required by applicable accounting and tax law.
- Workbook delivery records are kept while access and included v1 updates are supported, and as needed to resolve a purchase or legal claim.
- Essay subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe. A minimal suppression record may remain so another message is not sent by mistake.
- Ordinary contact correspondence is normally removed after 24 months unless it forms part of an active engagement, purchase or legal record.
- Browser-stored workbook entries remain until you clear them, reset the tool or clear the site’s storage.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent for future newsletter email at any time. A request does not affect processing that was lawful before it.
Send a request to contact@renatovaldes.com. Enough information may be requested to confirm that the request concerns you. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority or the supervisory authority where you live or work.
Required information and decisions
Payment and delivery details are needed to complete and fulfil a workbook purchase. If they are not provided, the purchase cannot be completed. There is no automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Changes
This notice will be updated when the site’s data practices materially change. The current version is dated 4 September 2026.
